   County of Simcoe

The County of Simcoe is composed of 16 member municipalities and provides crucial public services to County residents in addition to providing paramedic and social services to the separated cities of Barrie and Orillia.

Who we are:

With more than 1,600 full-time and part-time employees, the County of Simcoe is one of the largest employers in the area, and is renowned for its many recreational, cultural, and historic attractions. From its Simcoe County forests and its more than 500 km of shoreline, to its championship golf courses, ski hills, and recreational trails, the County is truly a place for all seasons. Considered as one of the top tourism destinations in Ontario, the County provides a great place for its employees and families to not only work, but to also play and live.

Long Term Care:

The County of Simcoe provides a variety of long term care services to its more than 500 residents at four Long Term Care Homes: Georgian Manor in Penetanguishene, Simcoe Manor in Beeton, Sunset Manor in Collingwood, and Trillium Manor in Orillia. Services at these safe, comfortable, home-like facilities include 24-hours-a-day nursing and personal care, rehabilitation, medical care, spiritual, social and recreational activities, a Supportive Housing Program, a Life Lease complex, and an Adult Day Care Program with two active sites. Additional services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, restorative care programs, social work services, psychiatric counselling, and on-site foot assessment and care. In addition to these services, each Home offers secured units to its cognitively impaired residents, and rooms for those who require respite care. Nursing staff are given the opportunity to work in multi-disciplinary teams to identify needs of residents and develop and maintain appropriate care plans. The programs and services support residents as they age in place, and provide a seamless transition for individuals as they move across the continuum of care from community to long term care.

All four Homes are accredited through the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.

By leasing space at each of the four sites, the long term care department is able to foster additional partnerships with community services such as Hospice Georgian Triangle, Canadian Red Cross, Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, Meals on Wheels, and Victorian Order of Nurses, as well as various educational institutions such as Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology, York University, and the University of Toronto.
