Hawkesbury & District General Hospital Inc.

HGH is proud of our team of experienced and dedicated professionals. We are undertaking a major redevelopment project which will make HGH a full-service regional healthcare organization, and we are looking for new graduates of the healthcare professions to join our ranks. You will find us to be an exciting workplace with numerous opportunities for your professional development.

Our hospital serves the Prescott-Russell area of Eastern Ontario, home to a semi-urban, semi-rural population, the majority of whom are francophone. The hospital is known for its dynamic spirit and the pride which is characteristic of the community in our area. We are committed to the development of the hospital while continuing to respect our values and meet the needs of our evolving community.

Expanding and modernizing the Hospital, increasing our clientele, and offering a wider range of specialized teams, technologies and quality health services will ensure we reach our future potential and become a model hospital in Ontario.

Our Region

Our hospital is in the Town of Hawkesbury, located within an hour’s drive of Montreal, Ottawa, the legendary resorts of the Laurentians, and the American border.

The region is attractive to individuals seeking a rural lifestyle and ready access to a myriad of recreational and cultural amenities. From rivers to mountains and lakes, the area appeals to outdoor enthusiasts. Our charming towns and villages located close to the Ottawa River provide a playground for swimming, water skiing, sailing, boating and fishing. We are very proud of our 2 attractive and challenging 18-hole golf courses, 8 curling ice-sheets, the soaring club and the cycling trail. The local terrain provides excellent trails for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Some of the finest downhill skiing is available within an hour’s drive. Family-centered activities abound: a provincially renowned hockey team, figure skating and minor hockey, summer hockey school, a swimming club and community activities.

Everywhere you will encounter the friendly and welcoming spirit of our towns and villages, quickly making you feel at home in the region. The quality of life is enhanced by the easy access to cultural and entertainment opportunities in Ottawa and Montreal, as well as fantastic shopping just a short drive away.

Redevelopment Plan

The HGH is at a crossroads in its history.

As the only strategically located hospital in Prescott-Russell, HGH is facing an increased demand for healthcare services in all clinical programs. Our service territory is diverse and the demographics are evolving rapidly. In becoming a major health centre, the Hospital will be the largest employer in the region! The Hospital already has almost 500 employees and with the expansion project, we will require even more qualified professionals. Recruitment of doctors and nurses has become a major challenge for every hospital; HGH will be able to offer a new and improved facility to potential staff interested in being part of a dynamic, innovative and integrated healthcare team.
