Job Summary
Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate.  Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the CRNBC Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience
•    Graduate of a recognized nursing program. 
•    Current, practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) required. 
•    Up to two (2) years recent, related experience depending on clinical setting.
•    Two years’ Medical/Surgical experience required, including one year ICU/CVU or equivalent Critical Care experience within the last 3 years and/or successful completion of Level One theory and clinical course of a recognized post graduate course in Critical Care Nursing. 
•    Successful completion (75% grade or better) of the VIHA ECG Challenge Exam required. 
•    Demonstrated ability to provide nursing care to, or understanding and knowledge of patients requiring mechanical ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive medications.
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities
•    Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
•    Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
•    Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents and families.
•    Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
