Job Summary
Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, the Rural Outpost Nurse is responsible for direct patient/client care at outpost hospitals on Vancouver Island, and delivers health promotion programs to individuals and groups in a variety of settings in the rural and/or remote area.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
•    Graduate of a recognised School of Nursing.
•    Level 1 Critical Care Course.
•    Three (3) years recent, related experience, being a broad base of clinical experience, outpost or small acute facility experience as well as community health/public health experience; and knowledge of available programs and services, their interrelationships, and their function in delivering care in the community;
•    OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
•    Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) required.
•    Basic Life Support, Level “C” certificate.
•    Valid BC drivers license.
•    Apply nursing process as required  and described in CRNBC’s “Standards of Nursing Practice”

Demonstrated Skills and Abilities
•    Demonstrate clinical competence.
•    Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with other staff, and with patients/clients and their caregivers/families.
•    Other abilities as per job description.

•    The hours of work, including days off and work area, may be subject to change consistent with operational requirement and the provision of the Collective Agreement.
