Responsibilities
• Maintains accurate nursing records, effectively handles medical emergencies for residents and possess solid assessment skills.
• Provides nursing care in accordance with the Resident Care Plans.
• Maintains effective communication and good interpersonal relations with coworkers, residents, families and other departments.
• Maintains the safekeeping of all drugs and prescribed treatments on the unit. Administers drugs and treatments according to procedure.
• Maintains information related to directives/memos/policies within the residence.
• Specific duties will be listed on Job Routines and/or assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
• A Licensed Practical Nurse possessing a current provincial Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses and a Medication Administration Certificate, including the administration of IM injections.
• Experience in a hospital, other health care, retirement or long term care setting is preferred.
• Maturity and good physical and mental health, empathy, patience and tact are important qualities to possess.
• Knowledge of a variety of computer software programs is essential to this position.
• Must be able to communicate in English including written documentation.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
