JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: CAMP NURSE/HEALTH MANAGER (1)
Reports to: Camp Director
Qualifications: RN, or RPN with valid Certificate of Competency from College of Nurses of Ontario preferred.
If RN, personal liability and malpractice insurance required.
Nursing student currently enrolled in RN or RPN program may apply.
First Responder/Paramedic or student enrolled in such program may also apply.
Previous camp experience preferred.
Valid Driver’s License required. (Driver’s record will be checked).
Minimum 19 years of age as of June 20
Current Standard First Aid & CPR C required (training can be provided for a fee).
Clear Criminal Reference Check required.
Responsibilities: Ensure that all Department of Health and Ontario Camping Association Health and Safety regulations are followed.
Communicate with Medical Authorities, Camp Director and parents.
Ensure all campers are treated following the Medical Directives of the Physician, if necessary.
Maintain a log of all treatments.
Order and keep inventory of all medical supplies.
Ensure quality care for campers, staff, and volunteers.
Maintain confidentiality of all issues unless otherwise directed by the Camp Director.
Duties:
Prior to Camp: Review all health forms and become familiar with all conditions that might require special attention.
Prepare health information sheets for counsellors, Kitchen staff, and Waterfront Staff.
Pre-Camp: Present the Health and Safety procedures at the Staff Orientation.
Ensure all supplies are current and fully stocked. Discard outdated supplies.
Participate fully in all staff training.
Fill all First Aid kits & ensure each area has required supplies.
During Camp: Be available at all times for emergencies and needs as they arise.
Participate in all aspects of camp program including but not limited to daily activities, special events & evening programs.
Be the liaison between medical personnel and the camp.
Contact parents when the need arises regarding health issues.
Maintain adequate supplies in all First Aid Kits and Health Center.
Complete all necessary forms, including weekly statistics.
Attend all-camp activities, taking care of any health concerns that arise.
Submit a weekly report to the Camp Director.
Other duties as assigned by Camp Director.
Complete a detailed inventory and properly store all medical supplies.
Submit treatment records to Camp Director.
Make recommendations for future camps.
Employment dates: June 20– August 25
Salary Range: $1800-$2500 (please speak to Camp Director regarding free camper option).
